Ned and Cecelia Stober had a vision when they founded The Shelby Chair Factory in 1947, manufacturing sofas, chairs, and sectionals for 17 years. As their vision expanded, they purchased this unique, abandoned brick dairy barn in 1963 and began the transition. Ned and Cecelia envisioned customer shopping in the renovated barn filled with lots of character and quality furniture.
Now the barn is more than 100 years old and is operated by their son Rod for more than 45 years.
Built in 1920 as a working dairy barn, it reopened as the Spring Mill Furniture Barn in 1964. As you shop, notice the entrance doors, the thick brick walls, the 30 foot cathedral ceilings, and the view from the fourth floor. Also experience the curves of the sofas and chairs, the look and the feel of the top grain leather, the fine finishes on the solid wood furniture and the comfort of the honest quality. We take pride in selling furniture that is made in the U.S.A.
There is a lot to see and we know you will really enjoy our furniture. We hope to see you soon.

Shades of yesterday...over 100 years ago, a wealthy Mansfield industrialist built the large "storybook" dairy barn. The original structure reigned as an agricultural showplace. In 1929, the depression struck and as years passed, the barn changed hands several times. Each new owner used the structure for its intended purpose - to house cows and produce dairy products. The last cows were milked in the Barn in the summer of 1955. It stood vacant for several years.
In 1963, the Stobers purchased and restored the red-brick barn and it became the home of Spring Mill Furniture Barn.
The renovation was named one of the top restoration projects in the state of Ohio.
The all brick barn was opened for business in the fall of 1964. All of the furniture we sell is made in the U.S.A., and I am proud of it.
See me Rod Stober because..."I wouldn't put a piece of furniture in your home that I wouldn't have in mine".
